Jets Soccer Make State Playoffs!

In only their third season the SAN DIEGO MIRAMAR COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM has qualified for the State Playoffs. The women will travel to Moorpark College this Saturday. Game time is at 2pm.

The student-athletes and coaching staff should also be recognized for the following Pacific Coast Athletic Conference achievements:

  • 2nd Place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a 16-3-1 record.
  • Sean Bowers—Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Co-Coach of the Year.
  • Nicole Petracca—Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
  • Kelsey Warner—Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Goal Keeper of the Year.

The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference has selected soccer players Vanessa Ybarra of Miramar College and Alyssa Garcia of Cuyamaca as its Women’s Athletes of the Week for the week that ended Sunday.

"Mo" Ybarra, a sophomore forward from Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, scored a hat trick in the first 10 minutes of the Jets’ 11-1 victory over MiraCosta.

She added two assists, also in the first half, in the win, which ran the Jets’ record on the season to 11-3-1.

Ybarra, who played under the name “”Monique Ybarra” as a freshman a year ago, has accumulated 65 points in her two seasons at Miramar with 23 goals and 19 assists. She has 10 goals and eight assists so far in 2009 for 28 points.

Garcia, a sophomore forward from Valhalla High School, continues to rack up assists for Cuyamaca in search of the Coyotes’ school record.

Last week, Garcia contributed a goal and an assist in a 5-1 victory over Imperial Valley. She came back in a 2-1 win against Southwestern to get another assist and has 12 on the season.

Honorable mention for the week went to Palomar volleyball player Aimee Bird, San Diego City College volleyball player Kristina Fernandez and Cuyamaca soccer player Rachel Fields.

 
Jets Soccer Ranked 13th in SoCal: Petracca, Warner State Ranked

The San Diego Miramar College Women's Soccer team is currently ranked 13th in Southern California and 19th in the state. 

Nicole Petracca (Poway High School) leads the state in scoring with 12 goals and 7 assists. 

Kelsey Warner (Goalie) is ranked 6th in the state with a GAA average of .54.

Miramar's womens soccer team beat Chaffey College 4-0! Goals were scored by Nikki Petracca (2), Danica Caudillo (1),  and Ashley Moore (1).
