Amy Jennings is a local San Diegan graduating from San Pasqual High School in 1998.  She played volleyball, softball and participated in the first CIF sanctioned girls water polo season in 1996.   Amy played two years of water polo, two years of swim, and one year of softball at Palomar College. She was awarded All Conference and All American honors for Water Polo in 1998 & 2000. While at Palomar, Amy was coached by Olympic Silver Medalist Gubba Sheehy.  The 2000 Women’s Water Polo team was awarded Conference Champions and placed 4^th in State.

 Amy started coaching water polo in 1998 as the Novice coach for Vista High School. She continued coaching there as JV, and Assistant Varsity Coach for 8 years. In 2003 Amy returned home to Palomar College as Women's Assistant Water Polo coach for 4 years.

Amy became the Girl’s Head Water Polo Coach at Westview H.S in 2006. Her team made CIF appearances in 2007, 2009, 2010 and finished 5^th in CIF in 2011.  Amy was also Assistant Swim coach for Westview in 2007,

In 2007, Amy accepted the Head Coaching position for Women’s Water Polo at Miramar College. In her first year heading up the Jets, she was honored with ‘Pacific Coast Conference Coach of the Year.

Amy attended San Diego State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. She earned her Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2008.

Today, Amy continues to compete on the OMBAC Women’s Water Polo Masters team. In her free time she lifeguards in Mission Beach and is a Junior Lifeguard Instructor.  Amy currently resides in Clairemont with her husband Billy and daughters Coral and Shelby.

Sandy Onweller was born in San Diego, CA and graduated from Poway High School in 1999 as a four year varsity letter winner in girls’ water polo. Sandy was a member of the USA National Youth Team in 1997 and 1998 and went on to play collegiate water polo for Palomar College and San Diego State University.

After a successful collegiate water polo career, Sandy traveled to Australia where she played for the Hunter Hurricanes in the Australian National League.  Sandy is still a serious competitor in the sport of water polo and finished her 6^th season of play for the New York Athletic Club.

In 2000, Sandy began coaching local youth swimming and water polo programs.  Sandy was the 2001 Palomar College and 2004 Southwestern College assistant water polo coach.  Sandy then went on to become the varsity coach of Westview High School, finishing her 2006 season ranked 4^th in San Diego. Sandy has been the Assistant Coach for the Miramar Jets Women’s Water Polo program for two years and is a big part of our growing success.

Sandy earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Diego State University and a master’s degree from in industrial organizational psychology from National University. Sandy currently resides in Pacific Beach and is a proud parent of her son Reid.

Christa is a graduate of San Pasqual High School in Escondido where she earned four letters in swimming and water polo, twice named MVP in water polo, named swimming MVP as a senior, and earned first-team All-CIF for the 1997-1998 water polo season.

She went to the University of Hawaii at Manoa on an athletic scholarship where she was the team captain for 3 years.  She was a scholar athlete and the winner of the All-Time Rainbow Wahine Award at the 30 year celebration of wahine athletics her senior year.

Christa began coaching with the Jets Water Polo program in 2010 as the Assistant Goalie Coach. Her expertise in the training of the goalie position has been a big part of the program success.

Christa graduated in 2002 with a degree in Psychology and went on to earn a master’s degree in School Counseling from National University.  She currently plays with OMBAC women’s water polo team.  She also works as a substitute teacher and lives with her husband, Eric, by Lake Hodges.
