Position: Head Coach
Coach Robin Bregman comes to SD Miramar College with a wealth of local and national water polo experience.
His Coaching System will emphasize: Physical (Conditioning), Technical (Fundamentals), Tactical (Game Strategies) and Psychological (Mental Toughness/Confidence) components of Water Polo.
As a 4-year Varsity Starter at Point Loma High School, he earned All CIF and All Western League Recognition and was named Team MVP both his Junior and Senior seasons.
Robin played NCAA Water Polo at the University of California, San Diego and graduated from UCSD's Muir College in 1993 with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in U.S. History.
While serving for 12 years as an EMT Ocean Lifeguard with the City of San Diego, he also became certified as a Referee with USA Water Polo and is currently rated a Level 4 National Referee.
He has been selected to Referee at events such as: USA Mens 20/u Nationals, USA Womens Senior Nationals, USA Masters Nationals, Boys & Girls Junior Olympics and the US Club National Championships.
He is an active member of the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) and the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and has worked both the Mens & Womens Championship Game for the Pacific Coast Conference So Cal Championships.
Robin began his Coaching Career with San Diego Shores Water Polo Club in 1999.
After serving as an Assistant Coach at The Bishop's School, he became the Girls Head Coach at La Jolla High School, leading the Vikings to a Division II Top 5 Ranking and a CIF Quarter Final appearance in 2000.
In 2001, he joined the UCSD Womens Water Polo Team as Assistant Coach and Director of Recruiting and helped guide the Tritons to a NCAA Division I Top 10 Ranking and a Semi-Final berth in the WWPA Championships.
Robin also served as the Girls Head Coach at Torrey Pines High School in 2007-2008 and an Assistant Coach with Sunset Water Polo Club.
He Founded the Greater San Diego Water Polo Foundation and is the League Commissioner of the SD Premier League and the SD Grommet League, which facilitates youth water polo in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial Counties since 2004.
He is looking forward to leading the Jets with an unrivaled spirit and enthusiasm for success!!!
